Ayurveda Nutrition & Cooking Course

On this 5 day Ayurveda Nutrition & Cooking Course, immerse yourself into the art of cooking creative plant-based meals, according to the season, your region and your Ayurveda type. 

  • Discover the energetic impact of various  fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and legumes on your body and mind, plus the best season to eat them. 
  • Whilst the recipes and cooking are plant-based, you will also learn about the impact of various animal products on your body and mind.
  • Be guided to plan balanced meals which include all the building blocks for strength and vitality in body and mind. 
  • Experience a new joy in your cooking as you learn the Ayurveda way of engaging your senses in food preparation and the importance of this for good digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
  • Blend spices, make unleavened bread, create sumptous aromatic chutneys and learn about their importance in Ayurveda cooking.
  • Create an Ayurveda kitchen. 
  • Turn your food and spice cupboards into storehouses of natural and healing resources for you and all the family.

This course is going to transform the way you look at food and also the way you prepare and eat food for life. 

It is going to support you to enhance your own health and longevity, and that of your loved ones. 

With the understanding of Ayurveda nutrition that you will receive on this course, alongside  the know-how to prepare meals in alignment with Ayurveda’s incomparable wisdom, you will become an alchemist in your kitchen. You are going to know the energetic impacts of foods and how to prepare them and cook them for specific effect on the body and mind. You will have the masterkey to life-enhancing meals, not only aligned with the seasons but also with your metabolic needs at any time of the year. 

There are a mix of nutritional theory and practical cooking sessions on this course. 

After the course, you will be asked to write a 3 course meal menu for each season, adapting your favourite meals to Ayurveda principles. 

Once your menu plans are submitted, you will receive your Heart of England Ayurveda Cooking Course certification. 

The course includes 30 contact hours and 10 home study hours.

A typical day on the course: 

  • 10am A short Ayurveda Yoga practice starts the day to energise the body and clear the mind. 
  • 11.00am We make a seasonal warm tea & enjoy with a healthy snack
  • 11.15am Ayurveda Nutrition class explaining the basic principles of Ayurvedic diet, plus the theory of the day’s practical work.
  • 12.30 Practical instruction in preparing and cooking food the Ayurveda way. A light lunch/ first course followed by a two course meal. 
  • Enjoying the prepared food and drink together.
  • De-brief about the food selection, and the seasonal and dosha attributes of the foods.
  • Closing guided meditation.

Location, Dates, Costs and Booking:

The course is non-residential but accomodation can be arranged. 

It will take place near Stratford Upon Avon in a commericial, fully fitted kitchen.
